2020: Road Trip to Granada: Day 1

My teacher friend and my friend as we drove down south in Spain.

Today, my friend and I hitched a ride to Granada and a teacher who works at my school offered to drive us down there – since he was going to visit his family.

The way there went by fast only because we were engaged in friendly conversations. So, the four hours flew by quickly.

Finally, we made it towards the the narrow city. The car barely fit while cruising through the cobbled street road. Outdoor markets and tourists alike were present.

“Okay, this is the stop. Can’t go anywhere without the cops following me on my tail,” he said. “See you soon!” Then he dropped us off in the middle of the street.

A view we woke up to every day.

Soon, we grabbed our gear and made our ascent up the hilly terrain of Albaicín. (If you have a rolling luggage, either be in great physical health, have someone else roll it, or just leave it at home.)

Once we got to the apartment and unpacked our gear, we began exploring. It was like we entered some candy shop or playground and everything was new and fascinating.

A view of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada (Mountains)

Over the next couple of days, I would find Albaicín as my favorite part of the city.

  1. Is there a place more beautiful than Granada! It’s one of the most fascinating places in Europe and I can’t wait to visit one day. I hope we can travel again soon, we had to cancel all our travel plans due to the coronavirus, can’t wait for things to go back to normal. Thanks for sharing and have a good day 😀 Aiva
